next week on Tuesday, 19 January the Focus Session "Brexit – What's The Deal?" takes place from 04:00 pm – 07:00 pm (CET)

Additionally to the already announced speakers, we are happy to welcome Kat Young (Senior Product Manager, MusicHub GmbH, DE), Mark Chung (Owner, Freibank Music Publishing, DE), Peter Quicke (Managing Director, Ninja Tune, UK) and Drew Hill (Managing Director, Proper Music Distribution, UK) to the line-up for the session "Recorded Music: Conditions & Commitments".

This Focus Session is a joint effort between Eurosonic Noorderslag and Reeperbahn Festival.

In this 15-minute overview Tom Kiehl (UK) delivers a very first evaluation on the impact and consequences of the recently agreed Brexit deal and its meaning for the music sector on both sides of the Euro Tunnel.

Tax & Toll: New Duties & Declarations for the Live & Recorded Sector

In this short session the tax advisers Dick Molenaar (NL) & Kevin Offer (UK) will explain what Brexit means for artists, fees and royalties regarding taxation and newly implemented cross border regulations.

Recorded Music: Conditions & Commitments

The consequences of Brexit for record and publishing companies are the focus of this discussion. Also of importance will be the changed conditions for creative work and respective projects and companies in post-Brexit Europe. Not to forget: the Brexit mindset in relation to A&R policies.

Live Music: Considerations & Concessions

The live music sector still suffers due to the Corona-pandemic, while Brexit is just another burden for the handling of talents and artists within the European live circuit. How will Brexit affect the circulation of artists on festivals, tours and concerts, and the business relations between UK agencies & EU promoters?

The 2021 Music Moves Europe Talent Awards Ceremony becomes fully digital.
On Friday 15 January, starting at 08:00 pm, the winners will be revealed of this annual EU prize for popular and contemporary music which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme.

"Inspiration Information" Online Workshops

As part of the "Inspiration Information" series offered by IHM and MBSS there will be two different free training courses on the project management tool Asana tailored to the needs of people working in the music industry:

  • Asana Intensive Training on 26 January. 
  • Asana Remote Academy with Video-On-Demand Content available from 27 January.
