Music is our Business

Dear reader,

Anyone who has ever been to Nashville surely discovered that the nickname "Music City" is no exaggeration. The density of important music companies and publishers is unparalleled, and the streets and bars are full of live music – at least during normal times. Next year, Reeperbahn Festival International will hopefully be able to welcome delegates back to Nashville in person as usual, but this year's digital event also has plenty of exciting programming to offer from 10–12 May. The focus this year is on publishing. The program, as well as information about another digital event that will take place on the digital conference platform in May, can be found below.

 Reeperbahn Festival Nashville

Nashville will be offered primarily in digital/hybrid form on the Reeperbahn Festival conference platform. Together with our partner in the USA – the Music Business Association (Music Biz) – as well as with the Keychange movement and supported by the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, we will offer valuable contacts and exciting insights into the heart of the US music- and creative industry via 1:1 matchmakings, discussion panels & keynote presentations and digital company visits. Parallel to Reeperbahn Festival International in Nashville, Budde Music Publishing will also host a digital "Singer-Songwriter Camp for female and underrepresented genders". Who knows – maybe the focus session will include  a spontaneous live display of the ongoing camp...

Mon. 10 May

Please note: People interested in the Focus Session can purchase access here. If you have already purchased a ticket for the digital conference platform, your ticket is still valuable for all upcoming program until 30 June 2021.

"pop'n'politics: Global Perspectives on Nighttime Recovery" on 7 may

Where is the cultural industry heading? What efforts must politics, creative professionals & society make to get cultural life moving again worldwide? These and more are the questions addressed by the two-day online special pop'n'politics. On Friday, 7 May starting at 3:00 pm (MESZ), findings from the Global Nighttime Recovery Plan will be presented, followed by interactive workshops.

On 8 May, the Saturday evening show „pop’n’politics – Debattenraum: Dancefloor. Gedanken, Geschichten und Songs über Gender, Diversity und Identität“ will take place from 8:00 - 10:00 pm (MESZ) as live stream on our Facebook channel.

Pop'n'politics is a cooperation between Reeperbahn Festival and Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, presented by Rolling Stone.
