17 September 2021

Dear Media Partners, Dear Colleagues,

Starting on Wednesday, 22 September, all eyes in the entire music world will be set on Hamburg again when the 16th Reeperbahn Festival opens its gates.
As already mentioned, this year a lot will be different because of the pandemic-conform implementation of the festival —however, one thing will not change: For four days, St. Pauli will be all about the status quo of the international music business — whether live on stage, on our streaming platform or as part of our digital conference programme. This press information will provide you with an overview of the rules regarding the "3G" implementation of the festival, our comprehensive media offer as well as our programme highlights from all programme areas.

Here an overview of all relevant points:

1) Mandatory face coverings, social distancing and hygiene rules, personal data

Like last year, it’s important that everyone attending the festival acts considerately, responsibly and carefully. Therefore, please observe the current distancing and hygiene rules. This includes washing and disinfecting hands regularly and maintaining a minimum distance of 1.5 metres between two people, as well as wearing a well-fitting medical-grade face covering (we request use of an FFP2 mask) in queues and in the venues.
When you check in at the press desk, Germany’s “3G rule” (in German: “geimpft, genesen, getestet”, meaning “vaccinated, recovered, tested”) requires you to provide (digital) proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or an up-to-date negative rapid test result (no self-tests!) or a PCR test (tested within the last 48 hours). Anyone who has been tested must show their negative test result at the Press Desk on each day of the event.
In order to be able to inform festival attendees of anyone testing positive for Covid-19, we record your data for each venue you visit. To enable this, log in via the QR code on display when you enter a venue and log out when you leave. Please download the PartyMate app in advance and enter your contact details. This will save you time at the festival and allow you to attend events straight away. Our staff will check whether the data has been registered. If your smartphone does not have QR code recognition, you can fill out a paper form at the Press Desk in advance, then you will receive a QR code from us which will be checked by our staff at the venues.

2) Press accreditation

The Press Desk is located at the Festival Village on Heiligengeistfeld near the entrance to St. Pauli underground station. Accreditation is personal and non-transferable. Please have your personal ID card ready.

Opening hours: Wed – Sat 9:00 am – 10:00 pm

3) Interview room

Should there be need to use our adjacent interview room at the ARCOTEL Onyx, please write to and state on what day and at what time you would like to use the room.

Opening hours: Wed – Sat 9:00 am – 9:00 pm

4) Access to concerts for journalists and reporters

Venues will open about 45 minutes before the programme item begins. A part of our venues will have chairs and there will be only a limited number of seats per concert. For this reason, we ask you more than ever to plan in sufficient time to be admitted to the venue early enough before the show begins.

5) Access to concerts for photographers / camera teams

As for pandemic-conform presentation of Reeperbahn Festival 2021 the usual photo/film position from the pit is not possible, we will provide a limited number of allotted seats for your photos/shoots at the venues. This means that we cannot guarantee access for all photographers / camera teams to all shows of their choice – in the coming days we will ask for a list of favourites and will notify you by e-mail for which concert you are listed.

After your choice has been confirmed, access to the venue in question will take place with a guide after meeting in front of the venue. Please be at the Delegates Lane at the entrance to the venue 15 minutes before the show begins and have your personal ID or press card ready for verification. You will be permitted to photograph/film for 15 minutes.

If it is clear that at a concert, camera teams as well as photographers are present, camera teams will be admitted first for 15 minutes and then photographers for another 15 minutes. So please keep your equipment as mobile and light as possible.

6) Opening Show/ ANCHOR

Press contingents for the Opening show at Stage Operettenhaus on Wednesday, 22 September 2021, as well as the ANCHOR – Reeperbahn Festival International Music Award show at St. Pauli Theatre on Saturday, 25 September 2021, have already been assigned. If your application is confirmed, you will be notified separately on the procedures at the venues. Should your application not be confirmed, please note: There will be livestreams of both shows on!

7) Digital conference and streaming platform

This year, the Reeperbahn Festival conference programme will take place on site as well as digitally. Access to the digital conference programme is included in your press accreditation. You will shorty receive your access info by separate e-mail.
Our publicly available, free Reeperbahn Festival streaming platform will bring large parts of the Reeperbahn Festival programmes live from the Reeperbahn to your homes.

During Reeperbahn Festival our team at the Press Desk will be your contact.

The Reeperbahn Festival Team wishes you a great and successful time at Reeperbahn Festival 2021!
