Showcase – Sampa the Great(ZMB)
22:00 - 23:00 (SAST)

Sampa the Great was born in Zambia, grew up in Botswana, and has been living in Melbourne for a few years now. Recently, she has not only garnered every hip-hop prize Down Under (4x ARIA Awards); indeed, after two celebrated mixtapes (on which neo-soul also played an important role), her debut album, The Return, earned even more praise in 2019 (in Guardian, Pitchfork, NPR, Spiegel, among others). The single “Final Form” was even named “Track of the Year 2019” at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards, and audiences have thus been anxiously awaiting the next “Return” ever since. Echo Location Talent Agency is currently booking her 2022 EU tour, with initial appearances confirmed at Primavera Sound Festival and Summerjam Festival, among others.

Presented by:
Bassline Fest in partnership with ACCES and Reeperbahn Festival

Genre: Hip Hop

Setup: Labels: Wondercore Island, Ninja Tune, Big Dada. Booking: Echo Location (EU), High Road Touring (US), Akum Agency (Afrika), Niche
